2011 Wedding Showcase {Business Stuff, Central PA Wedding Photography}

Who knew that someday I would be showing at a wedding showcase? Crazy thoughts, eh?

As Brandon and I dreamed and planned for a showing at the 2011 Wedding Showcase, we hardly knew what to expect. Maybe to meet alot of brides (we did!) and introduce ourselves about a hundred billion times (not quite that much), but didn't expect to have quite so much fun...
Note: these were super-duper fast iphone pics of our booth.. sad quality, but I was busy talking to people and forming educated opinions on the food vendors' samples.

Our simple, yet effective booth:



We didn't really have a theme... just being ourselves.
Classy. Authentic. Happy. 

This included giving away handmade chocolate truffles to our guests. Those truffles are one of my favorite chocolate recipes. Decadent and completely delicious (even the catering company next to us agreed!;). Why give away truffles at a photography booth? Because it's ME. I (heart) chocolate.
.... And even the brides who already had photographers could enjoy our chocolates.

My favorite moments of the wedding showcase (besides delicious cupcakes) would be having friends of past clients walk up and start squealing with joy at our display! Meeting new clients that were as silly & fun as we are. Reading our guestbook later with many brides' names!

And, I didn't mind getting a new dress + pretty shoes for the day, too....

Smiley Face Stickers {Business Stuff & Being a Wedding Photographer}

I'm funny.
It's true!
It has to be true because my husband tells me so...

Actually, Brandon and I had only been dating for about 3 weeks...
I asked him, "what is one thing you've learned about me that you didn't know before?"

He said, "I didn't realize how funny you are!"

HAHA. Definitely one of my favorite compliments ever. My serious and constant personal intensity had so convinced the man that he wanted to date/marry me, that my often-insane-lame-goofy-and-full-of-puns humor surprised him. And he still married me. And he likes to tell me how funny I am. :) And I married him for his sense of humor... That's what local tax collector said to me today. She got quite a kick outta some joke he made about people not paying taxes. I was like, "yes, baby! Charm the tax collectors!"

Thank you for suffering through my newlywed ramblings.


The point is,
I find joy and laughter in the small things.
Like small red scratch-and-sniff smiley face stickers.
When I found these RED, HAPPY smileys at Office Depot and had a brilliant idea!

Welcome, 2011!!!! A Time to LOVE!

Happy New Year!!

I'm currently sitting in my home office... cleaning off my desk, answering wedding inquiries and happily drinking coffee from my new favorite mug. 2010 has been an interesting year for me! I decided to up my game in photography.. by upgrading my equipment (D700!!!!! + new lenses!), upgrading my website (http://www.naomielle.com/) and pretty much taking pictures of everything that moves (and some things that don't). :D

I started to define my style as a photographer... Classy. Authentic. Happy.
I discovered how much I absolutely *adore* engagement sessions. They make me jump up-and-down with joy + excitement during the session and make me ooooooh and ahhhh for days whenever I edit them. :D
I photographed weddings myself for the first time ever...
I second-shot two weddings with my favoritest photographer mentor ever. (ohh gee, Kristen Leigh!)
And I shot a wedding while being a bridesmaid + wedding singer, too.. (don't ever do that, you will probably go crazy! hahaha)
I learned that I *LOVE* wedding photography.

I'm not a "techie" girl. Besides the required and increasing photo terms/concepts that I learn so I can create pretty pictures, give me electronics and I will probably end up frustrated and crying....True confessions: I do the same thing when I attempt any sewing project. Hahah.

So the thought of me designing a new website was a little crazy. Or alot CRAZY. The truth is.. there was some frustration, and ALOT of sleepless nights (I'm writing very fast so I can try the whole sleeping-before-midnight thing today), but no tears. Yay for small victories!

{Business} Super Senior Portraits 2011

I can't decide what I like best... Weddings or Senior Portraits... There's just something about senior portraits. I LOVE THEM! Maybe it's because I've been a youth group leader for 3 1/2 years, and I'm very comfortable hanging out with teenagers. :) I like capturing the stage of a young person on the brink of their future. There's an air of confidence, uniqueness and hopefulness towards the future. I like how different every single senior is. I like knowing who they are and what they like to do, and how these things have shaped them as a person... And I like telling the story of their past, present and future with my camera.

Recently, I had my first Senior Portrait Session of this year. 2011 seniors rock already!!... Here's a little sneak peek of Janet. PRETTY!!!!!

{Business} My New Camera Baby

This week I have been away--travelling across the country. I seem to be doing that alot lately. :) Technology is a grand thing, though! I pre-blog and schedule these blog posts to publish at a later time... It's niiiiiiice!

And you know what else is niiiiiiice? *silence* MY NEW CAMERA!

I am fully & completely enthralled with my new camera and lenses. While it's true that the camera doesn't make the photographer and 95% of photography is skill, having good tools is a huge help!.. So I cannot WAIT to show you some of the images I've been making! Literally, I can't wait. Here is one shot of Zeph & Kelsey's engagement session! More coming soon!

{Business} Wedding Sample Album + New Pricing!!

I hurried home today because I *knew* that something would be waiting on my front porch for me. I love mail. I adore mail. I miss my childhood days when I had a penpal. Email just isn't the same! (can I get a witness, anybody?)

Anyway, I knew there was gonna be a nice, flat cardboard box waiting on that porch. It would be sitting there smugly... the results of so-much-work and late-nights and representing the beginning of my transformation into a more diverse photographer.

On another note, there's more changes at Naomi Elle Photography! I've been thinking alot about making my pricing structure more simple. Because complicated things annoy me! :) Don't they annoy everyone?

The question I've heard most often in my short-business-life-span has been "can I get my images on a disc?" Nothing wrong with that question! As a client of myself (if that was possible), I would ask the same thing! The funny thing is- most photography studios make their money not on session fees, but on additional print orders. So if I just hand everyone a disc, how would my business survive?

Then again, clients want images. To *print* at their convenience. To *share* at their convience. To make life simpler. And less complicated.
I can totally understand that. So I changed the pricing!!

Now you pay one fee. And get a disc of your finished high-resolution images. No muss, no fuss. :):):) Check it out here!
